The MV Helena
The MV Helena was built in 1998 at the Zhejiang Shipyard in Ningbo, China. After serving in Europe and West Africa carrying all types of cargo from containers and cars to wind turbine blades, the ship was purchased by AW Ship Management to provide the new marine cargo service to St Helena.
The name of the ship was chosen following suggestions from the Island and a final public vote on the best three names chosen by AW. The MV Helena is fully equipped to call at the Rupert’s Bay terminal on St Helena and can carry a total of 4,924t of cargo, or 218 20-foot containers.
